Frank Ocean

Christopher Francis a.k.a Frank Ocean is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is known for his unique style of making music, it is a mix of R&B, soul and hip-hop. Frank was raised by his mother because his father left the family when he was only 6 years old and grew up in New Orleans. Although he had problems at home he would write because he felt “It was more comfortable.” He saved money working many different jobs like mowing lawns, walking dogs, and washing cars. With that money, he rented a recording studio. Later in his life, he moved back to California where he was born. After Hurricane Katrina hit and destroyed his recording studio. Ocean wanted to begin his career once he got there, he got a job at a recording studio. From there he began ghostwriting for many well-known artists like Justin Bieber, Beyonce, and John Legend. This got him many connections in the industry, and he was getting recognition. In 2009, he joined Odd Future, a group of artists he then collaborated with and made music with artists in the group. Tyler the creator was a big part of Frank Oceans career. He had a close friendship with Tyler; Tyler even renewed his style and the passion of songwriting. Frank later met a producer by the name of Tricky Stewart who helped Frank get signed to Def Jams Recordings. He then got to work solo and collaborating with some musicians eventually won a Grammy for his album “channel ORANGE.” Though he has not recently dropped any music, he is headlining in Coachella this year and is successful.
