A Season Worth Showing Up For

By: Suanny Aguila

Last spring, Miami Springs baseball made school history by winning the FHSAA Class 3A State Baseball Championship. For the first time ever, the Golden Hawks brought home a state title, setting a new standard for what this program represents. What used to be a goal became reality — and now, every season after that means something more.

After opening the year strong on February 11th with a big 14-2 win over Miami Brito, the Golden Hawks have continued competing at a high level and showing that last season’s success wasn’t a one-time thing.

Since then, our players have:
• Crushed SLAM Academy 12-2 — another confident offensive outing.
• Beat Gulliver Prep 6-1 — a solid bounce-back win with great pitching and timely hitting.

All together, that puts us at 3-2 on the season heading into the next game on February 24 against Southwest Miami, a team that’s also been competitive this spring.

With Coach Corey Estrada leading and the team battling week after week, it’s safe to say every game still feels like a must-watch, and every win feels like our win.

So bring your friends to the next game. It’s still early, but the Golden Hawks have already given us plenty to root for.
