Still Playing Clash Royale, Apparently

By: Xavier Solis

Some apps just kind of become part of your daily routine without you really trying. For me, that’s definitely clash royale. I downloaded it back in 2016, figured I’d play for a bit, then delete it, nah, still playing all these years later. It’s got this thing where the matches are super quick, which is perfect if you just have a minute, but there’s also enough strategy to really get into it. They’re also pretty good at keeping it new, like making new cards and modes every season so it doesn’t get old.

It is very easy to get started but there is much to learn. You can pick up the basics in like five minutes, just drop your troops, cast spells, try to kill their towers. But the more you play, the more you start seeing the strategic little things. For example, when to toss that fireball to get maximum damage or how to trick your opponent into wasting their elixir. Every match is like a puzzle or chess match and when you win it’s pretty satisfying. And the live battles make up the core of the game. A close game will always have you locked, or that feeling of pulling completely outplaying your opponents. Overall, it’s just a solid way to kill some time and just a neat little game to have on your phone but watch out because you might get hooked on the journey to the top.
