Romeo + Juliet released on October 27, 1996, directed by Baz Luhrmann. Romeo + Juliet is an adaptation of the Shakespearean romantic tragedy taking place in a modernized city known as Verona Beach. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo (Montague) And Clair Danes as Juliet (Capulet). In this interpretation of the adaptation The Montagues and the Capulets are gangs. The film includes action scenes such as fights, police chases. While the film is set in a modernized set the lines are in old English as in the play. The film is two hours long with an age rating of PG-13. With a rating of 77% many continue to enjoy this film. Being filmed in Churubusco studios Mexico City, although a couple of parts of the film were in Miami. Romeo + Juliet includes an abundance of religious representations, on clothing, weapons, cars, as well as in Juliet’s room. In the featured film the scene where Romeo and Juliet finally meet as well as the use of water represents how love is seen as transparent, pure, and beautiful due to them meeting while looking at one another through a water tank. This film is available to watch on HBO, Hulu, Roku, Vudu, and Amazon prime.
