HBO Max and Mindy Kaling are coming out with a new adaptation to the Scooby Doo world called Velma. The show is scheduled to be released in 2023, only a few pictures and a trailer have been posted. Although the show has not come out yet, fans of the series have mixed opinions about aspects of the show. But before we get to the good stuff, in case you have not heard about it, let this reporter give you a summary of Velma.

So, mentioned previously, Mindy Kaling and HBO Max are teaming up to create an adaptation to the beloved show. They are planning to make this an adult origin story for Velma and the Scooby Doo gang but with a more modern aspect. The producers have come out to say that Velma will be much like 2019’s Harley Quinn. Mindy Kaling also decided that Scooby Doo was not going. Part of the reason was because the show was going to be too adult, but most fans speculate that it is that they were not able to get the rights to use the iconic dog.

Now, we have interviewed 17 people in my local area. Most of the people do not like the show. One person commented that “it feels like the representation was alright but some of the key items the show use to hold feel lost” others feel like the show would different or not good. However, despite all the negativity, there are fans who think the upcoming show will be great and will give it a watch as soon as it comes out in 2023. There are even a multitude of fans who think the main character is attractive.
