Saint Thomas University chef cooks with FEA students

On Thursday, November 4th, Chef Ana Machado and Professor Edwards from St. Thomas University came to Miami Springs to cook and demonstrate to Ms. Mann’s culinary classes how to make a Greek spinach turnover called Spanakopita. Chef Ana effortlessly taught and served our culinary students and even made some students go from not liking spinach, to absolutely loving spinach. Students were also able to get hands on experience; they helped to fold the phyllo dough sheets and to prepare spanakopita for the next class. Chef Ana even taught our students other ways that you can use phyllo dough to form the same delicious tasting Spanakopita, in the form of a pastry, pie, and even a pear.
