CBP Officers find cocaine in coffee packages at Miami International Airport

Two suspicious packages of coffee arrived last week at Miami International Airport from a flight that originated in Peru. Upon arrival, the package underwent security via x-ray and was inspected by Customs and Border protection officers. Upon close examination, officers noticed abnormalities on the screen. A hands-on inspection of the package was requested immediately. Officers located clumps that tested positive for cocaine. There was a total of 4 pounds of the drug that was being shipped to an address in New Jersey, which had a street value of about $75,000 in the U.S. We’re extremely proud of our CBP officers and their ability to detect and seize narcotics,” said Miami International Airport Port Director Christopher Maston in a news release. “They remain dedicated to protecting the American people from dangerous drugs.”
