Trump’s Return to Office: Key Policies and Their Impact on America

On January 20, 2025, Donald J. Trump assumed office once again as the 47th president of the United States. He has outlined his priorities for his first 100 days in office and his plans for the next four years.
One of his primary focuses is border control and immigration. He announced a mass deportation initiative which began on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, targeting major cities such as Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Additionally, he proposed revoking birthright citizenship and already signed a bill addressing this issue. Alongside this, he issued 10 executive orders on immigration and canceled over 30,000 asylum-seeker appointments.
Another key focus is the United States’ relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO). Trump has signed an executive order to withdraw the U.S. from the WHO within 12 months and to halt all financial contributions. This decision raises concerns for those in the healthcare field and the general public, as it could impact access to global health protocols, research, and responses to emerging diseases.
On the economic front, Trump is emphasizing trade policies that could have widespread effects. He has imposed a 25% tariff on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. In response, Canada has implemented a 25% tariff on U.S. goods, while China has introduced a 15% tariff. These tariffs are expected to increase the cost of imported goods, including cars, groceries, and gas, placing additional financial strain on many Americans. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has stated that Canada’s tariffs will remain in place until the U.S. reverses its own.
Thus, Trump’s policy decisions are poised to significantly impact the American economy and daily life. While some may benefit from these measures, others could face substantial challenges. The long-term effects of his presidency will shape the economic landscape and the future of the American people. Only time will tell how these policies will shape the nation’s future and impact the lives of American citizens.
