Construction around the school

By: Devin Williams and Karen Zuniga

The construction going on in the school has been complained about by many people. Although we are grateful that our school is being redone, the loud noises in the middle of class and the constant changing between rooms causing teachers to pause important lessons for several days is disturbing. We are also going on year two of the construction.  Currently, the most affected have been the teachers and students who have classes in the upper part of the 300 building. What was once an easy and quick shortcut to certain classes, has now become a two minute diversion.  And we you have five minutes to get to class, an extra two minutes is burdensome. Students in these classes have complained about the loud banging of pipes and the ongoing drilling. Construction is usually at its busiest during lunch or after school, but for as long as it has been, it feels as if it has been taking forever.

Moreover, it also feels like the school has prioritized construction over essential items. For example, money was spent to get our mascot and school name painted in the gym  – beautiful.  But can someone please supply the student bathrooms with hand towels?  Recently, there has been a shortage in both girls’ and boys’ bathrooms. There are also some bathrooms without mirrors and for nearly two or three weeks, the water fountain downstairs had a red light on the filter status. Hopefully, by the end of this year, or when we return from spring break, fingers crossed, most of the school’s construction will be finished. Students will be able to return to their classes, teachers can resume their lesson plans, and hallways will finally not be blocked.
