How much do we know about space?
By: D'Angelo Marquez
Let’s talk about stars. How many stars would you guess are up in space? Would you say there are a million, maybe 8 million stars? Would you believe me if I told you there are approximately 200 billion trillion? Well to put it into a better term, we have 200 sextillions. We have only discovered about four percent of space and in terms of lightyears that is about 46.5 billion lightyears. Since the Hubble telescope made its debut in 1990, we have come a long way to find new technological advances, we now are planning to use reusable rockets, some rockets will be so powerful they might even take us to mars with this kind of advancement according to forbes.com. Well, people might question why should we even explore space? To simply answer that we just must expand our horizon and search for more challenges to face as humans and to evolve further mentally and technologically than we are at this current moment. Now to quote Stanisław Lem, Solaris “Man has gone out to explore other worlds and other civilizations without having explored his own labyrinth of dark passages and secret chambers, and without finding what lies behind doorways that he himself has sealed.”
