Springs upsets Westland

On March 11th at 7:30 p.m., the Golden Hawks took down the Westland Wildcats. The Hawks took down the Wildcats by a score of 6-4. Westland got on top in the first inning to take the lead 2-0 by a couple of mistakes by the hawks defense. Dylan Carter the winning pitcher then settled down and shut the Westland hitters for the next 4 innings recording 6 strikeouts. Carter went a solid 5 innings for the Hawks. It was the 5th inning where the hawks made the push to lead the game with Andre Ramirez getting a huge base hit to tie the game 2-2. Ricky Alvarez then got on base to make it interesting for the Hawks and then Dylan Carter delivered the game winning run to put the hawks atop 3-2. Steven Torres then had a big hit to make it 4-2 and give the hawks some cushion. The Hawks then came to bat in the 6th and scored 2 more runs on a huge double by Thomas Diaz. The hawks then looked to Orlando Borroto to close the last two innings to get the win. It was a hectic last inning where Wildcats scored two runs to make it 6-4. With a man left on 2nd base and the game tying run up to bat, Borroto got the batter to fly out to center field. The Golden Hawks upset the #7 ranked team in the county by a score of 6-4.
