The story of a little girl from Barbados coming into fame and telling her story is portrayed in Rihanna’s eight studio album, ANTI. The long-awaited album was released exclusively on Tidal, an app and website on January 28th, 2016. Tidal paid $25 million just to work with Rihanna, and they were not disappointed earning 1 million Tidal subscriptions just within the first day of the release. The album went platinum over night with much credit to her deal with Samsung but of course also because, the music. Rihanna’s approach took everyone off guard as this album is nothing like the rest, taking an eccentric twist on her music with a different artistic approach. The album has features from SZA, Travi$ Scott, and Drake. The first single released before the albums supposed “leak” on Tidal was “Work” featuring Drake, released earlier that day. A lot of Rih’s “Caribbean gyal” attitude and rhythm/sound is felt throughout the song as well as others on ANTI. The album is available for one week on Tidal before a purchase will be necessary, a gift from Rihanna to her fanbase, the “NAVY” as she calls them.
