Game: Battlefield Hardline
By: Justin Rodriguez
Battlefield Hardline is an upcoming first person shooter video game that was developed by Visceral Games alongside EA Digital Illusions CE and is published by Electronic Arts. Unlike previous games in the series such as Battlefield 4, Hardline focuses on the war on crime instead of military conflict.
Battlefield Hardline’s story takes place in Miami, which is in the center of a drug war. Nick Mendoza, a police officer and also the main character, has just become a detective. Nick and his partner, a veteran detective named Khai Mihn Dao, follow the drug supply chain to the source. After a series of off-the-books cases both detectives realize that both sides of the law can be affected by power.
Battlefield Hardline, originally set to release on October 21, 2014 was delayed to March 17, 2015 to allow Visceral Games to implement the feedback given by players of Battlefield Hardline’s beta. The Levolution gameplay mechanic returns from Battlefield 4, allowing realistic destruction of the environment, such as sending a construction crane crashing into the side of a building. This time around, every map in Battlefield Hardline will feature Levolution mechanics.
Battlefield Hardline features several new game modes, such as Heist, Blood Money, Hotwire, Rescue, and Crosswire. Instead of a linear storyline similar to previous games in the series. The campaign will feature episodic crime dramas where the players choice will drastically change gameplay experience and outcomes of a situation. As a police officer, the player is able to use multiple police gadgets and personal equipment. The police badge can be flashed at criminals to scare them into surrendering, the scanner is used to monitor a situation, identify targets of high-value,and to mark threats. To help the player slip past criminals, bullet cases can be dropped to distract them.
