The uproar in Miami Springs Senior High is about the school’s vape room and smoking sections. Students are complaining that urinals and stalls take up space in the vape room. These students have relentlessly filed complaints about pee on the floor making the smoking experience not as great as it should be. They are unsatisfied with the briefness of the time in between classes, not giving the smokers enough time to enjoy themselves in their designated areas.
Certainly, the school restrooms are getting out of hand with the constant smoking of juuls. As you walk in the bathroom, it is always crowded in the middle with smokers all around. It is equivalent to a moshpit with how crowded it gets with smokers.
A possible solution is to supervise the bathrooms after every classes to stop this from occurring. If we monitor the bathrooms more closely, we can catch the culprits and keep our bathrooms clean once again. We need to find solutions to these problems before our bathrooms become another Woodstock.

Injustices in Our School
By Carlos Lassalle, Staff Writer
In our school, there are many injustices present, and I believe the major one is smoking and vaping in school. This is a huge injustice that everyone knows is unhealthy. Moreover, it’s illegal for a student to be smoking/vaping on school grounds. Students know it’s wrong, but to avoid conflicts with other fellow students, they don’t “snitch” or tell administrators. There are so many violations correlated with smoking/vaping in school such as selling vapes/drugs in school and it’s even become so common among all students that students smoke in classrooms too (besides it being utilized in school bathrooms). Certain rules/regulations must be placed and/or enforced soon in all schools.
The smoking/vaping injustice in schools likely started about two years ago, but I believe the consumption of such bolstered started when the underclassmen arrived. The simple act of going to the bathroom and taking care of ones’ necessity can’t be done because the bathrooms are constantly flooded with students blowing clouds from their ridiculous vapes. I think what fuels the continuation of this violation is the flavors of the juices in the vapes and the fact that students are following everyone else, so they think it’s cool and don’t know the mess they’re getting themselves into. What can be done to stop this injustice could possibly be placing securities in the bathrooms or at least being in the vicinity to stop the crowds in the bathrooms. Also, have body scanners and search for any drugs/vapes (in an appropriate manner).
Smoking/vaping hasn’t stopped in schools because the school has not placed much importance in stopping these violations. The administrators can’t demand or expect for students to stop committing these injustices by announcing it once in a while, they need to show students that they will stop them and will confiscate the drugs/vapes. Another proposition is to bring more police officers to the school so that students can have some type of reverence or consideration.
In conclusion, the injustice of smoking/vaping that has become so strong within our school system and the sphere will only continue to grow from here. The only way this will be reduced over time is by making rules, placing security in the bathroom or in the vicinity, and having more police officers in the school. I believe this injustice will have its expiration date soon and our school system will be stronger with these/any future injustices.
