One State has barred Donald Trump from the 2024 Ballot

The Colorado Supreme Court has barred Donald Trump from running in its state’s primary presidential election. They have determined that he engaged in insurrection on Jan 6, 2021. This is related to the Capitol incident that occurred with many civilians storming the capital in support of Trump. This is the first time a court has ruled a presidential candidate off the ballot under this provision. All justices on the Colorado Supreme Court were appointed by Democratic governors.

This ruling can urge other states and elections officials to follow the same rule. Republicans are quickly gathering and many are claiming that this is election interference and therefore unconstitutional. Many believe this will now be taken to the U.S. Supreme Court which would need to decide if they will take the case. There will be many opinions as this story continues to develop. The presidential race is quickly evolving and Trump has not appeared in any debates as of yet. However, he is being favored in many polls as the Republican front runner. This news is certainly a set back for the Trump campaign and will shake up the republican nominees.
