After weeks of hard work and countless rehearsals your very own Miami Springs Senior High thespians, troupe 1466, competed in the Florida State Thespian District 8 One Act Festival, a three day event held at Hialeah High School from October 28th to October 30, 2015.
On October 28, the first day of competition, your Miami Springs Senior High thespians performed their rendition of Jonathan Rand’s one act play “Hard Candy,” directed and casted by Marielva Sieg.
In this comedic tale, job applicants at Banff Enterprises will do anything and everything to climb their way to top of the corporate ladder. Intimidation, trickery, wits, blackmail, sex and, yes, murder played a part in the comedy.
Emerald Greene, who portrayed not only Gail, the old lady but Cindy, the language expert, was presented with the “all star cast” award. Victoria Harvey, casted as Linda, the secretary, was awarded “best supporting actress in a comedy”. Also, troupe 1466 was awarded best program, designed by Sieg and Kevin San Pedro.
On a rating scale of poor to superior, Miami Springs Senior High troupe 1466 won a superior rating for the first time in 6 years.
“It was an amazing experience, I’m so excited for next year’s competition”, stated Leonel Molina.
