Fifty-seven year old singer, Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota according to a statement released by Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson. Prince’s private jet made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois last Friday, April 15th which was hours after he performed in Atlanta, Georgia. Prince himself said that he was suffering from the flu, which turned into walking pneumonia. At the same time Prince was also dealing with a hip injury and according to his ‘drug dealer’ he had an addiction to percocet. That addiction began years ago shortly after he got a hip replacement surgery in 2010.
On April 26, Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson filed court documents which she states that “I do not know of the existence of a Will and have no reason to believe that the Decedent executed testamentary documents in any form.” Prince was worth $300 million according to Celebrity Net Worth. And his estate is expected to grow as sales of his music will blow up since his death. Prince was not married and had no living children or parents who could inherit the millions to come from his estate but Tyka is the only full sibling of Prince. He was paranoid to write a will because he was scared of being ‘screwed over’ by putting his signature on legal documents. So without a will, Minnesota law states that his estate would go to his sister and his half-siblings. They would control his brand, including Prince’s NPG record label and thousands of unreleased songs.
